About the NAT-Test Examination
The Japanese Language NAT-Test is a standardised proficiency test for non-native Japanese speakers. Developed by the Japan Educational Foundation, it is held 6 times a year (February, April, June, August, October, December).
The test has 5 levels: 1Q (advanced) through 5Q (elementary), corresponding to JLPT N1-N5. NAT-Test results are often accepted as a valid Japanese proficiency certification for language school admissions and visa applications.
Why the NAT-Test Matters
The NAT-Test provides a reliable benchmark for Japanese language ability. With six sittings per year, candidates have far more opportunities to test compared to the JLPT. Results are delivered faster, making it a practical choice for language school applicants and visa candidates on tight deadlines.
Who Recognises the NAT-Test?
The NAT-Test is widely recognised by Japanese language schools across Japan, immigration authorities for student visa applications, and Japanese companies evaluating language proficiency of foreign employees. It serves as an official certification of Japanese language ability at all five proficiency levels.
